Pornichet as a vacation destination
Pornichet is first and foremost a town open to the Atlantic Ocean. Three Blue Flag beaches offer a host of seaside pleasures. These include the famous Plage des Libraires, 2 km long and an extension of the Plage de La Baule, and the large Plage de la Bonne Source.
Sainte-Marguerite beach embodies Pornichet’s Belle Époque atmosphere, with its elegant villas. It’s also a superb natural site, overlooking an offshore bird sanctuary. Before or after swimming, don’t hesitate to take the coastal path to admire a unique view of the sea and discover charming little coves.

Pornichet is a dynamic resort offering a wide range of activities. Sea outings are available from the marina. Water sports are also very popular: paddle, bodyboard, skimboard, kayak, sailing… The town also boasts a casino and a thalassotherapy center. Last but not least, don’t miss the market, one of the most famous in the area, where you can sample local specialities in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
It takes half an hour to reach Pornichet from the Vieux Château campsite: just cross the Saint-Nazaire bridge to cover the 32 km to the town.
What to do in the Loire-Atlantique region around Pornichet?
Take the opportunity to explore the surrounding area, as Pornichet is located in the superb bay of La Baule. The town is surrounded by the Guérande marshes and the Brière nature park, close to the charming little port of Le Croisic and Piriac-sur-Mer.
Just before crossing the Saint-Nazaire bridge, you can also stop off at Saint-Brévin-les-Pins, another well-known seaside resort. Between immense beaches and stretches of maritime pines, you’ll find superb panoramas and numerous maritime and cultural activities.

There’s no shortage of tourist attractions to the south of our campsite either, including Pornic. You’ll be seduced by its old port and its emblematic castle, in a town that combines authenticity and dynamism.
This is followed by the Pays de Retz, with its emblematic fisheries. La Bernerie-en-Retz welcomes visitors in a lively, friendly atmosphere, with beautiful markets (night markets in summer), concerts and seasonal events. It also boasts an unusual beach, with a natural pool that can be discovered at low tide.
Now merged, Villeneuve en Retz and Bourgneuf-en-Retz have retained their own identities. They are ideal stopping-off points for birdwatching, visits to salt marshes and discovering the region’s history. The Maison du Pays de Retz is a must-see museum for understanding local traditions.
Last but not least, don’t forget to visit Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef, our campsite’s commune! Here too, the coastal path offers a window onto magnificent panoramas. Bike rides, beach outings, paragliding lessons… there’s no shortage of activities!
